One of the core components of our community savings groups is not only teaching the women how to save, but helping them establish goals to save for. We use a methodology called SMART goal to help the women establish realistic goals that they can reach during the course of the program. SMART stands for:

Relevant
Time bound
Setting goals in this way makes it more likely that they will be reached. Here are a few of the past achievements as well as goals for the year set by the women in our groups:
Vielka Treminio
Achievements: Bought paint for her house, medicine and personal products.
Goals: Build a kitchen and install toilets.
Juana Bazan
Achievements: Painted and laid tiles in one of the rooms in her house.
Goals: More home improvements including tubing for the entire electrical system.
Leyvis Corina Valdivia Salmerón (new member)
Goals: Purchase supplies for the preparation and packaging of her products. Officially register her brand.
Damaris Rivas
Achievements: Repaired her oven, built a toilet and paid for medical expenses.
Goals: Pay her mortgage.
Isamar Gonzalez Espinosa
Achievements: Built part of the second floor of her house and bought products for her business.
Goals: Buy more beauty products for her business and finish construction on the second floor of her house.
